Ginger goodness

As we round the corner out of winter and approach spring, you might think that you are in the clear when it comes to head colds and sinus infections. But now at spring you still have the chance of getting the flu and other illnesses.

Our tip to fend off the spring sickness is a zingy morning shot, made with lemon and ginger.

The superfood ginger has long been used for medicinal purposes and concentrated into a juice like this, it is extremely potent. Most importantly it is a major immunity booster but it will also give you long lasting energy for the whole day. As a bonus its anti-inflammatory properties can help with any pain, it is anti-aging and can aid in weight loss.

Lemon is not only detoxifying but also balances the bodies PH levels and is jam packed with Vitamin C, which also helps with immunity.

Here is our Nordal recipe of a ginger shot:

500 ml water
Rind and juice from one lemon
1 tsp dried or fresh thyme
75 gr ginger
1 tsp honey

Peel the ginger, slice it and place it in a casserole with the water and the lemon rind. Make sure you don’t get any of the white part of the rind, as it is bitter. Boil for 30 minutes with the lid on and then let the mixture cool until room temperature. Finally add the honey and lemon juice.
After you have strained it to remove the ginger pieces and the lemon rind, pour the juice into a nice bottle and keep it in the refrigerator. Do a shot first thing in the morning to start your day, it is spicy, tastes good and will do you wonders!

The kick you get from this shot will electrify your senses in more ways than one. It will make you feel awake, clear your sinuses, reduce pain in your body and it will relieve any constipation or bloating.

The cutting board with the copper edge measures 30 cm and is made out of wood from the mango tree, and needs to be hand washed. So does the kitchen knife as it has a wooden handle made from oak. It cuts really well, made from Zirconia. The bottle measures 23 cm and also comes in a bigger size, 32 cm. The measuring cup can take 700 ml and can also be used as a small jug. Instead of taking the ginger mixture as a shot, you can dilute it with some mineral water to get a lovely, refreshing drink.
